Student Council Highlights – Decorating doors and pumpins; recognition of staff members, of course Homecoming was a huge success as always thanks to Mrs. Horstman and her STUCO members. They all did a GREAT job!

National Honor Society Members – Officers – Ethan Skinner/President; Colt Foster/Vice-President; Kaelia Nelson/Secretary; and Hannah Fessler/Treasurer. Members included Kaitlyn Kumpf, Ashleigh Galles, Taylee Neefe, Mikayla Randolph, Abby Bright, Ashley Agler, Taeller Ansley, Faith Rohrbouck, Emily Hansen, Taylor Keegan, Dylan Ernesti, Mat Davis, Cooper Weber, Cole Walters, Cody Laursen, Johnny Manning, Jacob Horstman, Natalie Gasseling, and Carli Cullan. Sponsor was Bridget Culllan.
Music Department – Abby Bright, Joseph Rozmiarek, and Jon Mazanec all made the Doane Honor Band; The Western Trails Honor Group included Emily Hansen, Carli Cullan, Natalie Gasseling, Taylee Neefe, and Jason Randolph. In the PAC, Rozmiarek, Bright, Hansen, and Cody Laursen were honored. 
Drama and One Acts – DISTRICT CHAMPIONS ! – Second Year in a Row!  The cast of “The Suessification of Romeo and Juliet” took third at WTC, were Champions of the PAC, and Champions at Districts! Performing at State in the Johnny Carson Theatre in Norfolk was a great experience once again! Winning outstanding actress or actor awards during the year were Devon Hansen, Asa Carlson, Ashlieh Galles, Hannah Fessler, Jacob Horstman, Kaitlyn Kumpf, Emily Hansen, Cooper Weber and Natalie Gasseling. The Show’s director was Tabi Bryner. Hemingford also produced a three act play for the year, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory and SLAMBO.

Speech Team – Sponsor Judy Stewart worked with many successful speech students, including Abby Bright and Makayla Randolph, State Speech Qualifiers! Robert Huele and Devan Hansen were mainstays, as were Macee Buchheit, Brittany Thomas, Briana Grumbles, Kelsey Winner, Taylee Neefe, and Tim Finnell. Hemingford was the team Champion in the Panhandle Conference.
Football – STATE CHAMPIONS (13-0) The Cats capped an outstanding season, winning all thirteen ballgames, a Third straight District Championship, and five state play-off victories on their way to the undefeated season. In Lincoln, they destroyed Bruning-Davenport – Schickly 52-8 before a great HHS crowd. Thanks to Head Coach Jordan Haas, and assistants, Randy Hiemstra, Tim Hiett, and Taryn Wood. 
The Cats had six First Team all-state players, including the state’s outstanding offensive player – Ethan Skinner; and the state’s outstanding defensive player in Colt Foster, Colt also made the Nebraska Shrine Bowl and He was the defensive player of the game in the east-west state 8-Man All Star game as well! 
Mat Davis, Brady Turek, Tanner Benge, and Matthew Wood were also All State First Team! Denton Payne, Asa Carlson, and Jameson Wood made all-district teams. The Bobcat Junior Varsity was undefeated as well, finishing (4-0).  The Junior High team finished with a (3-3) record.
Volleyball – Coach Kerri Heusman had another solid year, with her young team full of sophomores finishing 15-16 on the season. All Conference Honors went to Natalie Gasseling – First team PAC and WTC; Brooke Turek – First Team PAC and WTC; Ashleigh Galles – PAC First Team, HM WTC; Hannah Fessler – HM in both the PAC and WTC; and Kaitlyn Kumpf, PAC HM The JV team, coached by Heather Jensen had an outstanding (15-5) season! The frosh were (2-0) and the JHVB records were red (3-8) White (4-4) Thanks Coach Heusman!
Cross Country – Coaches Cindy and Tim Lanik had some great athletes out, including the Junior High Boy’s Team, who finished first in the Western Trails Meet! Cooper Weber received All-State Academic Honors, as did Joe Rozmiarek. Justin Davis was fifth at the State Junior High meet, and Toby Phillips finished in 7th at WTC.

Girls Basketball – Western Trails Champions, Panhandle Conference Champions, District Runner – Ups and (22-3) overall. GREAT season Lady Cats! With a young team and losses only to Mitchell, Chadron and St. Pat’s, the LCats will be back in force for the next few seasons! All Conference honors went to Chritian Rozmiarek, Natailie Gassleing, Brooke Turek, Faith Rohrbouck, and Kaitlyn Kumpf. Turek was also named the Western Trails Conferences Most Valuable Player – a GREAT honor! Coaches Dave Chatelain, Steve Morava, and Lisa Janssen all did a super Job! The Junior Varsity team was (11-4) , with the JH teams (3-6) and (2-5) Thanks girls, and thanks Coach Chatelain!
Boys Basketball – The Boys team, coached by Randy Hiemstra and Joe Collins went (20-3), a great season, including a championship in the PAC (for the sixth year in a row), and runner-up finishes in the WTC and Sub-Districts, each time by two points to the purple dogs of Bridgeport  Post-season honors went to Brady Turek, Johnny Manning, Colt Foster, Tanner Benge, and Matthew Wood. Wood is the all-time scorer in HHS history with 1,467 points, followed by Foster with 1,186 points ! Our junior varsity was (12-4) and the JH teams were (12-0) and 3-4) ! Thanks boys – and thanks Coach Hiemstra !
Wrestling – Hemingford sent eight wrestlers to the state meet for Coach Peter Gomez, as well as the entire team to the State Dual meet for the first time in school history, where the Cats won two duals and lost one to finish fourth in the state! Hemingford High School also had the honor of hosting District Wrestling for the first time ever! Stete individual qualifiers were Cooper Weber, Miles Davis, Austin Huddle, Lee Jespersen, Tarin Jespersen, Kage Jespersen, Mat Davis, and Denton Payne. Assistant coaches were Kyle Walker and  Jake Frost. Hemingford had no seniors .
Girls Track and Field – The girls had a great year, with wins at the PAC meet and the Chadron Invite. Competitors at the Bset in the West meet in Scottsbluff were Brooke Galles, Carli Cullan, Faith Rohrbouck, Natalie Gasseling, and Kaelia Nelson. Brooke Turek ran in multiple events there. Satte qualifiers were Turek, Ansley, Rohrbouck, Gasseling and Nelson. The  x 800 relay broke the old school record and re-set it at 10:19.0 for outgoing Coach Cindy Ahrens. Thanks Coach Ahrens!
Boys Track and Field – The Boy’s team won PAC, won the Chadron Invite, took third at WTC, and was Runner-Up at Districts for Coach Randy Hiemstra. Six Bobcats made it to State in Omaha. Brady Turek went in four events, the 100, 200, 4 x 100, and the 4 x 400. Ethan Skinner made it in the 200 and both short relays; Matthew Wood went in the Discus, and Colt Foster, Jameson Wood and Johnny Manning were other relay team members in the sprint relays.  The Junior High Boys team were also PAC Track and Field Champions.
Golf –  Jacob Horstman led the linksters this season, winning the Panhandle Conference Meet with a 76, before finishing in fourth at Districts and qualifying for the State Meet, where he finished in 19th place. Horstman medaled in all but one meet during the season. Other team members were Josh Milne, Deryck Topliss, Chase Lucas, Robert Huele, Lee Jespersen, Peyton Sutphen, Craig Anglesey, Tucker Loomis, and Zach Grumbles. Joe Collins was the Golf Coach.
Clubs and Activities –
FFA- Officers were President – Ethan Skinner; Vice President – Colt Foster; Secretary – Jonny Manning; Treasurer – Cole Walters; Sentinel – Denton Payne; Reporter – Taylee Neefe;  Historian – Matthew Sorensen. State Qualfiers in FFA included Colt Foster, Cole Walters, Ethan Skinner, Brady Turek, Asa Carlson, Anna Manning, Sydney Riggs, Miles Davis, Madison Davis, Matthew Sorensen, Lee Jespersen, and Cole Walters. Winning at Districts for the third year in a row were welders Brady Turek, Ethan Skinner, and Colt Foster. The club had annual events like the Petting Zoo, Farm Safety Day, the FFA Barbeque, the Rocky Mountain Oyster Feed and car auction, and many judging contests. The Chapter sponsor is Gordon Karney.
FCCLA- Officers were President – Mikayla Randolph; Vice-President – Taylee Neefe; Secretary – Cade Payne; Treasurer – Madison Glendy; Historian – Carli Cullan, and JH Representative Luke Cullan.  Abby Bright was the P.R. Rep for the Chapter. State qualifiers included Devon Hansen, Cooper Weber, Deryck Topliss, Taylor Vogel, Tierra Vogel, Desiree Stark, and Taylee Neefe. Winning gold at state were Mikayla Randolph, Taylee Neefe, Madison Glendy, Rashell Neefe, and Rebecca Hansen. The Chapter Sponsor is Suzanne Neefe.
Journalism- Class members for Mrs. Kay Horstman were Becca Stone, Danika Adam, Kelsey Klaes, Bethany Fortner, and Deryck Topliss. The class sold ads, took great photos ,and wrote countess stories.
Cheerleading – Sponsor Laura Weber worked the heck out of the cheerleaders – and it all paid off! The girls went to Omaha and were the Class C/D Champions! Members included Macee Buchheit, Danika Adam, Kelsy Winner, Taelley Ansley, Bessa Stone, Taylee Neefe and Carli Cullan. 
Homecoming Royalty – Queen – Kaelia Nelson; King – Ethan Skinner; Attendants – Makala Grumbles, Brady Turek, Hannah Fessler, and Colt Foster. The weather nixed the parade, the burning of the “H” and the car smash. A movie in the gym and some popcorn took the place of the outside activities.

State Competitions – 
Special or Unique Happenings – The HHS Quiz Bowl teams were successful again with a win at PAC and a top three finish at WTC. Members included Christian Rozmiarek, Joseph Rozmiarek, Asa Carlson, Makayla Grumbles, Madison Davis, Austin Wobig, Matthew Wood, and Natalie Gasseling. Sponsor was Jill Hurtt.
CSC Scholastic Contest Results – TRIPLE WINNER – Yes, for the first time in Hemingford history as well as the first time in CSC History, Austin Wobig won three individual Championships in three academic events at the annual CSC contest. Great job Austin!
