Student Council Highlights Providing communication between the student body and faculty was the main goal of the Student Council at HHS. The group also raised funds to purchase gold cords for graduates that were members of the National Honor Society to wear at commencement. Members maintained the pop machine and were the schools courtesy committee, sending cards and candy to anyone that was hospitalized.
National Honor Society Members Mr. Beck, the school superintendent, was the sponsor for NHS. Senior members were President, Boyd Krejci, VP Lelo Olson, Secretary Ken Messersmith, Treasurer Donna Fickel, and members Pricilla Burri, Bonnie Gowin, Gary Planansky, Greg Rosenberger, Diane Yardley, and Carol Zeller.
Music Department Lincoln and the Nebraska State Fair was once again the destination for Mr. Quinonez and the Marching Bobcat Band. Band Officers included, Captain, Bonnie Gowin, Donna Fickel, Asst. Band Captain and secretary, and representatives Brent Kuhn and Dave Minich. The Band had over 60 members and also performed at District Music Contest as well as Christmas and Spring concerts. There were an amazing 78 members in the HHS Chorus, as well as the Girls Glee with 48 members. Nancy White accompanied the groups on piano.
Football The Cats of Coaches Kuhn and Belina struggled through eight straight losses including being shut out four times before a pep talk from the coaches and a superior effort by the seniors helped to record a 29-13 victory over Hyannis in the final game of the season. Nineteen players competed for the 1965-66 Bobcats.
Volleyball There were 14 girls that competed in volleyball, including Carol Dyer, Irene Wyland, Donna Fickel, Sylvia Klemke, Diane Gordon, Doris Wood, Linda Roes, Candis Stumpf, Lynette Sedlak, Linda Becker, Joyce Keister, Joyce Reynolds, Lynette Haas, and Karen Winten.
Boys Basketball 25 Boys made up Coach Patterson’s team that finished the season with a 2-14 won loss record. There three one point losses during the tough season.
Girls Track and Field Coach Kuhn had 14 girls out for track, including Peggy Moller, Mary Darveau, Lynette Haas, Lynette Sedlak, Phyllis Roberts, Doris Schramek, Sylvia Klemke, Donna Fickel, Ilene Wyland, Janet Prochazka, Doris Wood, Donna Delsing, Candis Stumpf, and Karen Winten.
Boys Track and Field Brad Rosenberger led the way in Track and Field in the spring of 1966, qualifying for state in the Pole Vault. The mile relay team of Al Klemke, Greg Rosenberger, Gary Zajic, and Brad Rosenberger was also a consistent placer, as well as Al Klemke in the mile, and Gary Riggs in the Shot Put.
Golf There were three golfers out for Coach Beck, including Gordon Glass, Roger Beck, and Dick Zeller.
Clubs and Activities FFA Officers were President, Ron Soloman, VP Bruce Sample, Treasurer, Gary Hennings, Reporter, Ken Jordon, Sentinel, Steve Hennings, Secretary, George Bremer, and Sponsor, Mr. Vetter. The FFA attended District Contests and the Western Stock Show in Denver. FHA officers were, Linda Roes, Song Leader, Barb Roes, Secretary, Historian, Barb Becker, VP, Sylvia Klemke, President, Linda Becker, Treasurer, Dixie Frost, and Sponsor, Miss Ambrosek. Four members attended Districts and two were selected for the state contest. Hemingford had an annual staff and also published a school newspaper, The Feline. Diane Yardley, Linda Wanamaker, Arlin Sample, Barb Roes, Don Lawson, Susan Hennings, Carol Zeller, Bonnie Gowin, and Kathy Golka all helped to publish the annual, and Tom Messersmith, Carol Johnson, Edd Davies, Janet Prochazka, George Bremer, Cheryl Benda, Bill Walker, Laura Yardley, Greg Rosenberger, Steve Golka, and Diane Gordon were all Feline Staff members. There was also Cheerleading, Pep Club, and H- Club at HHS.
Homecoming Royalty King Albert Klemke and Queen Donna Fickel were Fall Royalty, while King Gary Planansky and Queen Kathy Golka were Winter Royalty. Diane Yardley, Kathy Golka, Greg Rosenberger. Gary Planansky, Donna Fickel, and Albert Klemke were the attendants for one of the two occasions. A bonfire was held after a snake dance to boost the spirits of the Bobcat faithful.
Prom Royalty Greg Rosenberger was crowed King, and Donna Fickel was Queen for the 1966 Prom.Attendants were Diane Wanamaker, Sylvia Klemke, Brad Rosenberger, Doris Wood, Brent Kuhn, and Jo Ann Reynolds.
Prom Theme The Theme was A Rose, as The Chaperones played music to an overflow crowd that saw a flower garden and wishing well, along with winding roses. A huge red rose was the centerpiece, and was suspended from the ceiling
Senior Class Motto With the Light of Today, we will Explore the Path of Tomorrow.

Freshmen Class Officers President, Rick Benda, VP, Duane Wanamaker, Secretary, Jerry Keister, and Treasurer, Ron Soloman. The Frosh also sponsored the Christmas dance.
